SUMMARY
Known Studio is excited to announce our final exhibition, Turn On, an erotic object group show featuring sculptural works by 14 LA-based artists. The exhibition explores the intersection of form, function, and desire through a diverse range of sculptural practices, treating sex toys and pleasure objects not as novelties, but as sites of experimentation, projection, and material inquiry.
Spanning functional prototypes, abstracted forms, and speculative devices, the works on view engage with the aesthetics and mechanics of desire, where utility blurs into fantasy and the body becomes both reference and extension. Some pieces invite interaction, while others resist it. Some pieces lean into humor or absurdity, while others approach intimacy with precision or restraint. Together, they propose new languages for thinking about pleasure as something designed, constructed, and deeply physical.
As Known Studio’s final presentation, Turn On highlights the vibrant sculptural community that has moved through and around the space over the past three years: artists committed to pushing material, concept, and context.
